I'm terrible.
no one in my town plays, i only know of 2 other people in my town that play at my level
to all the other kids at school, theyre stupid, i have to admit, there are two people that suck and still say that theyre better than me but they hate chess and refuse to play a game to prove that theyre stupid
I may be terrible, but I play, which is more than I can say for most of the world.
"Always depending on who the opponent is."
I always say im ok, I really think I suck at chess but that might give the impression that I dont know how to play at all
It's all relative.
I'm pretty good but not master level.
im also pretty good, USCF around 1600
Hmmm, depends on whether I feel like hustling or intimidating someone that day...
Possible responses:
"Let's play (and we'll find out)"
"I can kick your <your imagination here>"
"King me."
"I am willing to bet I can beat 95% of the people on campus"
Whoever said "I'm a champion" you stupid even Anand says "I'm just ok" he is so humble
My usual response is, "It depends who I'm playing..."
Well, i´m a pretty confident about my own game. I wouldnt say i´m amazing , much less a champion, but i consider myself as a strong player.
Why? Well, even knowing that there are many people in the world better than me , i consider that when concentrated, i can give a great fight to most of the players. as i said, i feel pretty confident in my game, thats why i consider it strong. Its true sometimes i just mess up in terms of attention to the game (a big problem) but overall i play at a very good level, in my opinion.
champion xD
it depends...
I m ok. look puzles--mate on 3---not on 4!
If I'm talking to someone who doesn't play chess, I say: "I'm okay."
If I'm talking to a chess player, it's "I'm fairly new to the game."
It's relative. I'm better than people who don't even know piece movement, but I'm inferior to club players. So depending on who I'm talking to, I describe my skill differentely.
I say, "I play a lot. In fact I play all the time. But I'm not that good."
i say, "i'm relatively good, an average player. let's play a game to see who's better" (action: brings chess set to nearby table and starts playing a game)
I miss the option "very average", "ok" is too possitive, "terrible" too negative.
There should be another option between "I'm ok" and "I'm Pretty Good". My suggestion would be "I can be reasonably good at certain times and often play quite well, but a more frequent occurance is that a large proportion of my games end up with me blundering horrifically and throwing away the game, followed by a period of intense introspection, wailing at the moon and wondering why god has cursed me with this infernal passtime". Vote!
I say it depends on who you ask. I'm better than the average person, but on par with the average chess player(at least I'd like to think so).
I'm terrible but i like to play chess and i think that's the most important thing.
I say "beginner/intermediate player." "Are you good?" though is such a subjective question, that has no real answer.
I would say 'I'm a strong player' to those who dont know how to play. And as they are in majoity I voted for this opton.
I would say, I'm terrible in playing chess because I just play chess for fun, friendship, brain exercise. In short it is NOT my interest and hobby. I like to dance the ballroom dancing more than to play chess.

It depends on who i'm talking to, i usually say i'm good or alright to people
I tell them I'm a champion. It doesn't matter how good I am, as long as I can beat them.
