I think CHESS.COM needs to be mindful of the offensive language it is using,i refer to the word "rooting"..many cultures find it offensive and degrading when there are more suitable words...remember the examples start at the top

Not so! I'm rooting for Adams but I expect Anand or Carlsen to win

People that root for one player would as usually expect that player to win, so the results would be the same :)

I think chess.com members are voting for "expecting to win", not "rooting for".

I wonder what the survey creator's original intention was...

Carlsen is getting pretty loaded, didn't he just win 200,000 in the last tourney, he better be spending that cash wisely.

I think "rooting for" means "cheering, supporting and hoping for to win". In that sense it seems strange that Vishy should be placed at #2 in this survey.

"Rooting" for is different from "expecting" to win. I expect Carlsen or Aronian based on their past performance. I am rooting for McShane as he's the most interesting underdog IMO. I will also root for Nakamura to at least get out of "last" place and finish with a plus score. Everyone else is certainly great and makes this very interesting!  Good luck to everyone!

And I see Short has healed nicely after my win against him. Laughing.

I love the Brits - Short, Speelman, Adams, Blackburne, Keene, Wade, Sir George Thomas, especially Miles.

Where i live the word ROOTING is used to described to people having sexsual intercourse and nothing to do with a vote count....i think you need to be aware that the world is much bigger than just america

Just to remind you people-Adams beat Ivanchuck at the recent Euro championships. So don't rule him out.
