Yeah, well so what.
Seriously? What was the point of that?
Great! Now I know how to capture a knight!
That's the whole point of this tactic!
What's wrong with Black going Neg4 for the final move?
The second knight move is the tricky part. If you go to Ng4 then h3 results in the loss of the knight. The only safe move is Ng3.
umm i was trying to use the analysis bord to find if this move was mentioned but i don't think it is. (the fact that i can not find it has nothing to do if it is there or not. just that i can't find it :P)
any way what if black played Nxe5 white pawn attacks it back, and black moves Bb4
my thinking is that if white plays fxe5 than black will play +Bxc3 white will take and black can take the free e4 pawn AND threten both to take the d5 pawn and the c3 pawn.
does this work? if it does is it worth it?
What's so hard to understand? You grab the free knight and jump away to fight another day. Material advantages do a lot to help win games.
The first white move is the kind people message "opps" immediately afterward to admit it was a blunder.
As for alternatives, the analysis usually lists the most plausible moves. Only once have I seen a tactic that didn't list a good potential move in the analysis(When they have one, some don't), and I've done hundreds of these problems so far.
Yeah it is ovious and plausible turn to defense the black knight.
Where is the Dumb Puzzle tag?
omg how did i miss that second move i am so stoned
Hey, I'm super stoned, and I got it lol. This is not a dumb puzzle! TT is to teach you to look at a situation and to determine the best move or line as efficiently as possible, time-wise.
If you miss this puzzle, it's not because the puzzle is dumb, it's because you failed to look at the whole board and determine the best line for black.
My advice is that when the board and position loads and the villain makes his first move, do not expect or look for anything specific, as far as moves. Don't think "Okay, where's the mate?", or "Where's the hanging piece?". Instead, take your time, look at everything, and figure out what makes most sense for that position.
Most importantly, a phrase that I think should be on the TT homepage:
Don't move until you see it!
hey you morons YOU JUST WON A FREAKIN KNIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that continuation was silly
I had to think about the second move because I thought I was missing something.
