Games have a 1 day time control and the games in the round start immediately! (That is 10 games starting right away and going fast!!)

Think fast and good luck!

You're right about the vacation time; though annoying, it is certainly allowed, per the rules of the tournament. I guess I just assumed the tournament had dragged to a halt because of slow moves.

Regardless, I didn't expect my comments to do any good, I was just ranting--and I certainly don't expect the TD to boot anybody (or respond to these comments, for that matter). I just wish I had been a little more selective about which tournaments I joined (i.e. no-vacation)!

I think the point you should make here is that this should be a no-vacation tournment. From the moment it is every single player is not entitled to their vacation time. However, if it keeps as a vacation tournment you cannot obviously ban someone who is playing by the rules.

I agree with you that this is moving too slowly but then I guess you should complain directly to the staff because it seems the staff is not paying attention (how can they, anyway?) to this comments and so the message won't arrive where it should. Complaining here won't do you any good.

I agree with both of you, this is really annoying. The tourney description clearly states that only players with a 'low Avg. time per move' can participate. They should be booted for violating this requirement. I don't care if the game takes 100+ moves, that's fine. But creeping along at a rate of 1 move/day is an abuse of the 1-day/move time constraint.

This is frustrating, there's 4 games remaining in round 1 and one of the game's hasn't moved for 9 days. It's been a month and a half already and it's not like any games started late, they all started the beginning of July. How is this a Rapid Tournament?

Absolute BS. My Internet went down yesterday, so I had a genuine reason for not playing yet I lose a game on time against a guy who had no chance of winning the game (group 39, vs adolfzimmer) and I then hear that other people are on a months vacation. That point would've put me through too! Disgrace.

we have someone in our group that after a few moves the first day went on Vaction and then a few more moves. Been on vacation ever since.

Yeah, I'm kind of surprised this isn't a no vacation tournament. I thought it was when I joined it, but it must've just been the other tournament I'm in.

what's the point of a RAPID tournament if you can go on vacation for a month?

Happened to me as well.  I'm up a queen.  Is resigning considered taboo?  I can understand playing on in an inferior position and hoping your opponent makes a mistake, I mean there are no masters in this event.  But's it's kind of insulting to hope I'll drop my queen...

@ppdashing Notice the eroding of the question, 'when it begins', the question didnt say after it begins.

@ppdashing, if a person signs up under the 1200-1400 with a ranking of say 1390 but manages to become 1410 before the tourney starts the player is automatically moved to the correct group. Actually my bad, I forgot the 1. 1201 and 1401.
