    It can indeed go for 2 years; just look at the previous editions of the chess.com tournaments. Look at those that have recently finished, then look at the the starting date.

    It could also be a player who just signed up and has yet to reach a rating which reflects their true skill level. Either way, it's still good practice, and exposes you to a wide range of player skill. We are here to improve our game and learn. If you'd like a faster tournament, be sure to enter one that doesn't allow vacation.

    If this is your first chess.com official tournament, be ready for the following:

    Even though this is the 1400-1600 category, whoever reaches the last round and wins the tournament will be well above 2000, because many players artificially lower their rating to win easy games.Actullay, the winner of the last finished 1000-1200 tournament was around 2200.

    Second, be ready for a very slow tournament with many games stalling for several months. Usually it takes about 2 YEARS for these official tourneys to conclude.

    This is my 1st tourney.  I've never had more than 4=5 games going at once.  Ten games at once seems amazing
