I'm okay with the players wanting to finish their game.  After all, the game will affect the players' ratings and leaderboard points.

I think they are being a bit selfish!

It seems that Sue is back and the game is back in progress.  Thing is, it appears drawn unless someone makes a mistake.

Well perhaps we are going for a record of the longest chess tournament ever?  How do they possibly have vacation time left?

10 months later, and it's all down to one game for this round - I wonder if they know that 89 people who started this tournament in February are waiting for them Undecided

As far as I'm concerned, nickonick can go ahead and stay on vacation until the end of Finals Week :)

There are two games to go.  Neither of them will affect who advances to the next round; the players are playing for tournament points except for one who is playing for rating (seeding) for the next round and is virtually assured of the win (K+Q vs. K ending).  The other game is between nickonick and suesmadhouse, and nickonick is on vacation (the game appears drawn).

...And the winners in Round 2 have all been decided.  Of the two games which are yet to be completed, bk1 already has an unbeatable score in his group (even if his opponent could somehow checkmate him with a bare King), and the result of the game between nickonick and suesmadhouse will not affect who goes on to the next round, as neither of them have a score high enough to win the group no matter who wins.  All four players who still have games going in Round 2 are now playing for leaderboard points.

Good games, timwinslow.  The Group 35 crosstable now officially says that we are both going to Round 3.

My primary opponent is a few moves from being checkmated in one of our games, and is beating me in our other game.  In other words, I am guaranteed to advance and the guy I'm playing is virtually in the same position.  All other people in group 35 have timed out.

I was a staff member at a summer camp for two weeks this summer, and after one of the weeks I came home to find that the lowest-rated guy in my group (his low rating is probably due to timeouts) had timed out against everyone but mewhile I was on vacation. I thought I'd have to win both of those games against him to have a level playing field with the other players in my group, but he timed out against me yesterday. Actually, all of the players in my grouphave timed out except for me and the No. 1 seed in my group, and we're having some interesting games between the two of us.

I think there will be one more round. After this at least 63 players left, so I think one more round and then eighth finales.

Ready for round 3 as well, I do hope it's not another group round though, 1 vs 1 please :)
