I have to agree with SwanGambit23.  I wish I could just withdraw from the tournament without losing points, and I hate it when I have to wait so long for my opponent to make a move because they're wasting so much time.  Why, in three of my current games in this tournament, I haven't even reached 25 moves yet!

No offense or anything though, just stating my opinion. Frown

WHAT THE HECK! my opponent SOCHALIENS didn't move for almost 5 days now, and continue to reset his clock. what in the world! i dont like to be cheated in the game, because i'am not a cheater. hopefully it's just a server error. BUT IF NOT, THEN I WILL CLOSED MY ACCOUNT HERE AND PLAY IN ANOTHER CHESS SITE.

Cheaters are almost all in my group. Tired to play in tournaments on this site. I have 2100 in real chess, only 1750 here after several years, it is funny. F... off, that is the end

something IS wrong, but who cares? with plenty of other games to play, I'm not bored. maybe the 17th tournament will come to round 2 soon. this one started a year ago.

how about this thought? Maybe there are so many players who've blocked each other playing in the same section that it's hard to manage the rounds?

It usually takes a few hours to get things sorted out, so it definitely seems like something might be wrong.

I'm not even impatient though, just curious as to what the holdup is.

ID rather be a restless itch with a passion to play chess and win than a lame duck willing to let others push me around, but thanks for the advice. Here's a drink to you.

Patience really is the key.  Not only are we embarking on another HUGE tourney, (that will in fact take over a year to complete) but these are the ones that even the freeloaders (like myself, lol) who have let their memberships lapse are entirely welcome to join.  If you want to go faster, get a membership if you can swing it and join some 24 hour no vacation tourneys, THOSE will keep you happy if you have a restless itch.

In terms of putting people in the right category, it seems like it would be very simple to write a script for a computer to do that in about a nanosecond.

They move everyone to the correct tourney based on your current rating. Considering there are 7 (I believe) rating categories that means moving hundreds of players up and down and takes time. If you want to withdraw, go ahead its no difference to the other players. Patience is the key as round one will last 9 months or more before round 2 starts.

Perhaps he/she/it has to verify exceptions to the entrance rules and such

Why doesn't it just happen electronically?  Does a human have to push the button or something?
