Ludicrous theory Kayo...lol, it made me laugh, thanks!

I bet these organisers of this tournament deliberately allowed vacation time so that the competition would drag along . Why? you might ask. Well to keep our minds occupied with this competition for as long as possible, keeping us distracted , spend more hours following up, monitoring  like a damn soap opera. They playing us like a chess match. Its almost like they dont want you spending that extra time doing something more productive, something that could be potentially more worthwhile and beneficial to our lives.

This is why I made my tournament (clash of the tactics) no vacation. I bet in round 2 I will get at least one timeout victory because the others in my group may not even use chess.com anymore.

Wow this thing is still going on? Back when this started I was a 1400 player (I am now just over 1600) so it has been long... I actually feel kind of bad because now that I am rated 1603 I am out of the rating boundary and it will be unfair on the others who are under 1600 when I go on to round 2 (I am advancing)

Agreed with littlesnake..that long to finish a tournament is ludicrous. Hope someone reviews the rules soon..including vacation time..no vacation from chess lol

actually, the last one of these that has finished as of Jan 7, 2014 is the 15th tournament that started on June 1, 2011. The 16th (started Sep 1, 2011) is still in progress...

So a reallistic expectation for this one is to finish around March 2016. The only way to make these tournaments reasonable is to severly limit or eliminate vacation. It is a killer.

Im in the 20th chess.com tournament final round and its just about to finish. Started in April this year. However that was quick knockout  (24hr move time).

got a general question that i hope someone is able to answer.

In the group i'm in its looking somewhat plausible that two of us is going to end with the same score and Tiebreak (and our games against each other is 1-1) ... how is the winner of the group selected then?

I don't mean he can not physicaly take on hundreds of games, I meant as a solution to his slow play, he did not have to take on all those games.  I am currently in a game with a player with well over one hundred games (diamondcastle) and he will not make a move in ANY game until it goes to the last two hours.  He is within the letter of the rules, but he certaintly does not exibit the spirit of a good tournament.

i really don't understand why should anybody complain about how the opponent makes his move ! it is his choice to move whenever he wants ! maybe he's playing with your brains ! he wants to make you nervous ! let's be calm and play chess ! and there is one more thing : it is possible that one player has couple of hundreds matches at the same time ! what can he do ?

The real problem is the participants who deliberately lower their score before the competition for playing with not such a good contestors. It is embarrasing, really.....

Seriously,  people are complaining about time when your playing chess? Its a three day tournament. If that doesn't suit you then resign. If i wanna take three days per move cos i'm having to work seven days a week then so be it. I don't sit on the computer every day. Three days suits me just fine thats why i entered the tourney. Maybe if it ain't fast enough for you then play LIVE chess or in fact go to chess club and play OTB and meet real humans for a change.
