Of course your rating changes.  One player in this tournament was 1387 when it began and is now 1493.  Do you think this person belongs in a <1200 tournament?

thats a very good point...but has nothing to do with my point at all.... I agree with you totally that although my ranking is 1388 it does not tell the entire story of my skill level due to the amount of games I have played.... you indicated that a players rating doesnt always reflect their skill level I agree!  This is not a <1200 skill level tournament... it is a less than 1200 rating tournament...my only point is that A players rating goes up or down during game play and that a rating above 1200 during the tournament does not mean that they started the turnament at that rating....

I didn't miss your point at all.  The fact is that the rating of a player with few games is not necessarily indicative of their skill level.  It is the way the rating system here works.  The rating of a player who has played 100's of games is likely a very good indication of his/her skill level.

ventman I think you missed my point.... although some memebers have a >1200 ranking at this point it doesnt mean that they started the tournament at a >1200 ranking!!... regardless of how many games a member has played or how much the rating goes up or down related to that!

bbwangel,  your rateing is not a reliable number because you have played so few games.  It will go up and down much more than someone with a large number of games.

bbwangel:  as a winner as in everthing they are critized so perhaps no one should try to win every game they play except those who find fault with anyone who tries and achieves thier goal.

at the begining of the tournament I was ranked <1200 I think 1140ish ....as the tournament progressed and I have won a few games my ranking has gone >1200 to 1388.... perhaps the same is true for other players in this tournament...just a thought

good point ventman, shame on them.  they we the type that had to win at all costs when they were weeee little fellas.  cheat, lie, beg, borrow, steal, simply because they were not good enough.   how would you like to work with someone like that !!!!!!
