In contrast to many tournaments, which include as many as possible in the pool of eligible players, this is exclusive in that most players are not eligible.

The idea is that after 100 completed games players should have fairly stable ratings. Although not guaranteed, players who advance in this tournament will be more likely to still be near the rating they started with.

Players much over 1300 will be removed at the start. I will make an executive decision about who to remove when the time comes. To ease this decision the upper limit for registering is 1275 not 1300.

Older Exclusive Offset tournament: 701-1100.

Older tournaments with similar conditions: 1001-1400, 1401-16001601-18001801-2000, 2001-2200.

@ pchacha - Re: Advancing two players.

A longer tournament may mean some who advance are no longer on the site to play the next round. That doesn't mean advancing two players is out of the question. Such a tournament would just have to start with 20 players.

Great format--but why not let 2 2-players per round advance.  Might take longer but it will potentially let Donk's like me make it the second round for once.....

I'm way over the limit, so I'm going to the tournament for the higher ranking players.
