Important: Vacation is allowed.

Following on the heels of the 1001-1400 version, the 1401-1600 range may have enough players to fill a 100-player tournament.

In contrast to the official tournaments which include as many players as possible, this is exclusive in that most players are not eligible.

The idea is that after 100 completed games players should have fairly stable ratings. Players who advance in this tournament will be more likely to still be near the rating they started with. Even so I suspect some of you will have a big rating increase over the course of the tournament. That's just the way it is when a tournament takes months to complete. Congratulations on your future rating increase.

Tournament Released to Registration: 2009 05 25

Minimum Games Completed: 100

Maximum Timeout %: 10

The Max Avg Time/Move restriction, for a player to join, is 6 hours. This hopefully will shorten the length of the tournament to months rather than years, to combat rating increases due to players improving over time.

Note: Players over 1600 rating will be removed when the tournament is almost ready to start. If the tournament proves popular, we will wait for replacements to register.

Edit: Players much over 1600 rating will be removed. I found it was not not easy to keep players drifting over the limit in the 1001-1400 version. I will make an executive decision about removal when the time comes.

Any of you who are playing in the 5th Chess.com Quick Knockouts, note there is no hourglass symbol designating "No vacation". The setting was changed to allow vacation without being announced.
