Vacation NOT Allowed

Posted by orejano on Monday, Oct 20 at 5:03am

All: I was checking the games (I'm not participating in it because I'm going to take vacation in December) and there are a lot of players who has taken vacation days, although it was not allowed. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

Unfortunately, for some reason, I can't withdraw players who has unfinished games. I though I could do that, but I can't. I will try to speak with the chess.com staff about that.

the only solution for this problem is in the staff hands. There must be an option in the tournament page to not to allow vacation time in a tournament.

Sorry for any incovenience but there is nothing i can do about it.

Even in final my opponent took vacation !! Not that I want any action agaist him. That will be worse. But why make such rules that can not be implemented. Anyway what can be done? Wait and hope that he resumes early.

Sorry, I forgot that vacations are not allowed in this tournament, so I have to resign after my vacation, not before. :(

Ludfiej is not punnishing Frantic,by playing on with maximum use off time, but the other 54 players!

Be sportif and resign ,so we can get the 2nd round started, before the TD is on holliday!

Tired of waiting for the next round, I am withdrawing due to having little time to play now, and I won't be someone that uses vacation time in a Tourney that strictly states not to use it.

Good luck to those who continue to wait for the next round!

to Orejano

As far as I can see, there will be 55 players in the 2nd round. Why don"'t you

declare the Fnatic games a draw, then you have 56 players, and we can get the second round going!

2 round?

The 1st round will probaly take another moth or so,thanks to  Fnatic. That means we are in december. The TD has announced a vacation in december.

Can the 2nd round start when he is on vacation? If not let us know, then I can go to another tournament.

Although the issue seems to have fizzled, I feel I should do the right thing and bring it back up as I am the first to be accused (vs burak). If the group feels I should withdraw then I shall do so without complaint, however let me first say.

I completely agree that there should be an option to remove vacation time in a tournament, this option I feel is to stop a tournament from completely dying by people taking weeks or sometimes even months off, not for those who miss by a couple of hours. My average time per move is under 2 hours and I have never taken vacation time intentionally and never for more than 6 hours. I personally feel there should be more time controls available, which would restrict a tournement that intends on being quick from taking months to get through one round. Players can often stay within 1 day time controls but still take months to complete one game.

Both my games this first round were completed in very quick times and I apologise for my short vacation which I am confused at as I seem to spend almost 24/7 within reach of chess.com.

Anyway let me know what you think and I will resign if that is the consensus.

Maybe a vote is in order, after all it is Election Day.

Don't think it happened in this tournament but earlier this month I logged on to find myself on vacation...I had set my settings for a max of 25 games...does that trigger vacation if a new tournament makes you go over the limit you set?

I didn't change anything myself so I'm wondering why my setting went to vacation....
