That's how many moves it takes to arrive at the Scotch position.

WOW - Billium nice find, though, I think we're gonna concentrate on the original 20 you found, then see where this goes from there ;-)

It looks like my list of 20 was not nearly complete.  I just found this list of 158:

(and it suggests that there are more - I think you'd need a Master's Degree in Geography to know them all)

I'm glad I'm not the only one being beaten to a pulp in this tournament! I'm steering well clear of this opening in future. Yell

So what kind of Scots phrases, greetings, and colloquialisms are there in use today?  All that's going thru my head at this moment is Mike Myers' voice, "A piper is down!  A piper is down!"  Wink  (from the movie So I Married an Axe Murderer)

I've not played a tournament before and I've only played people I know so far. I'm also worried about my winning streak (not lost a game yet) coming to an end but I figured, hey, what the hell. Laughing

Teckey... Monado is right, these games will not start at the typical chess starting position, they will start at the daigram above. They will start as if you came into the game a few moves late. No one has to worry about being told to make specific moves, once the game starts, you can make any move you see fit.

People are still joining, and we're only about half full.  I wouldn't mind waiting a few more days to begin.  Give a few more people a chance to sign up (give me a chance to finish some of my games in progress ;) ) before we head to the highlands.
