Hello everybody! When I took chess lessons, my teacher would always offer me a ginger ale, so to this day the drink reminds me of hours of focused chess analysis. Good luck to everybody!

Hi everybody! Good thing I wasn't playing in the tournament, since I just finished a [well-deserved] two-week vacation.

Congratulations to Sangamon for winning 1st place, and thanks to everybody for playing.

Due to a death in the family, I will not have online access until sometime Monday afternoon (EST), which may be a little over 72 hours from this time.  I hope I won't end up timing out on any games, but I apologize in advance if I do on some games.

minoc: The tie break has a fancy name which I forget, and this is how it works.

Your tiebreak adds up the score of all the people you beat with half of the score of all the people you draw. It's pretty easy once you look at a finished tournament with a tiebreak column. Here's an example.

http://www.chess.com/tournament/slav-open

My tiebreak is 3.75 right now. I don't get any tiebreak point from beating player #4, because their score is 0. But I beat player #2 once and drew them once. So for the win, I get all of their score, and for the draw I get half. This adds up to 2.5 + (2.5/2) = 2.5 + 1.25 = 3.75

Player #2 only gets points for drawing against me, which is half of my score. 3.5/2 = 1.75

What is the tie break number and how is it calculated?

This is my first tournament., but the FAQ on chess.com does not answer this at all...

Thanks.
