Ok, Graybeard; thanks!

I noticed David is playing in the other group; so he is also in round three.  That was the main thing I was concerned about.

Also, I will play more quickly in this round so as not to delay the tournament, as in the past.

Take care,

George

George -

I'm not 100% sure how the automation makes the matches and line-up for advancement and haven't had a chance to examine just what happened.  But enjoy the chance to play in round 3!!

What happened? I lost my games to David (Dozy) in round two.  He should advance; not me.

David already indicated he didn't want me to resign, Graybeard; so we are ok.

And, I am speeding up my games with him.  We made about 5 moves in each of our games in the last day or so.  At that pace, we should be done with our games in perhaps about two or three days; maybe sooner.

Thanks to you and the people advancing to round three (and everybody else) for your patience.

Take care,

George

George - please don't resign a game because of this!  I don't think that is anyone's intention and you've certainly not done anything wrong.

I set the time controls for 5 days because some of those playing travel for work a lot and one person was moving his family internationally.  But perhaps it would have been better to have 3 day controls and recognize that occasionally people would need to go on vacation mode?  Anyway, I'm learning as I go...
Thanks for your patience.

Any input from you and others would be a help for me next time around!

Thanks.

"not-very-subtle nudge" - I figured that is what you were doing.

"Sorry about holding up the tournament but I can't do much about it." - Seems to me, your "nudge" worked.  Laughing

Perish the thought, George.  Both games are even and. although they're very slow, it's your prerogative to use all the time allowed.  It wasn't my intention to offend you -- my post was a not-very-subtle nudge to see if the games could be moved along a bit.

Frustrating, Graybeard?  Well, yes, a little bit but it goes with the territory.  I just put them on the back burner like vacation games.

Dear Graybeard and Dozy,

This tournament is set for 5 days per move.  It could have been set for 3 days or 1 day; or, as Graybeard says, not allow players who have a relatively high time per move average to join.

I noticed it is again my slow play that is holding up the next round.  I started speeding up my play, moving as soon as I notice it is my turn.

But, since I am pretty sure David (Dozy) will beat me, I can just go ahead and resign so he can advance to the next round.  Let me know, and I will be happy to do so. Laughing

Hey Dozy...

"The third section is likely to take a long time to move on.  I'm only up to move 9 (after almost six weeks).  At the present rate of play we're probably looking at a minimum three months to complete them.  Sorry about holding up the tournament but I can't do much about it."
Yup, that is really slow.  Sorry about that.  I don't suppose there is really much I can do about except to not allow players who move so infrequently into my tournaments next time.  Have you encountered this before?

His hour/move average is 10 hrs 15 min. versus yours of 1 hr 6 minutes.  Yours is actually very fast and his is indeed very slow and I'm sure the difference is frustrating.  Sorry about that!

Hi Everyone,

I didn't realize I was holding up this tournament.  I will speed up my play so we can be done with this first round.

Thanks to everybody for your patience!
