The King's Gambit should need no introduction. 1 e4 e5 2 f4 is one of the oldest openings and was a workhorse in the Nineteenth Century. Andersson's "Immortal Game" against Kieseritzky was opened with the King's Gambit.
Despite Bobby Fischer's claim that it was busted, the King's Gambit refuses to die. Even the great 1 d4 player Akiba Rubinstein was fond of playing the King's Gambit, and achieved some great wins with it.
