The King's Gambit should need no introduction. 1 e4 e5 2 f4 is one of the oldest openings and was a workhorse in the Nineteenth Century. Andersson's "Immortal Game" against Kieseritzky was opened with the King's Gambit.

Despite Bobby Fischer's claim that it was busted, the King's Gambit refuses to die. Even the great 1 d4 player Akiba Rubinstein was fond of playing the King's Gambit, and achieved some great wins with it.

Some come on in and join the fun. Accept it or Decline it, but play along!

Nice comment, Waverly. I think too many folks get hung up on whether an opening is sound or unsound, rather than whether it is just fun to play.

Hi! Great idea to have a KG tournament. I haven't played it very often with white, but (nearly) every time it was great fun / very complicated. GL everybody!
