the purpose of this tournament

Posted by jootoo on Saturday, Jan 10 at 5:36pm

Last night (my time) I worked as a crazy bee to check hundreds of pages to sent 280+ invitation, I am happy to see 99 players come here now (13 ones before  the invitation sent)

the match will start automactically after the 100th one come here.

the purpose of the tournament is:

ensure the low rating players have the chance to be champion of tournament Cool

there are too many tournaments do not give you this chance, for lots of 1600+ players are overthere to block you, you have no chance to be the final winner, or even there is no any chance to go to next round.

but now, everything is changed, one of you will be the champion, and 50% of you will go to next round, this is our own party.

I will organize the similiar party for you in future

Good Luck and enjoy the coming win at this tournament.

after you earn the points, see below to find your ranking:

http://www.chess.com/tournaments/leaderboard.html

for example, I have 249 points and rank 324, I am on page 8 now.

See below, but I do not understand it 100%

What are Tournament Points?

Tournament Points are accumulated by competing in Chess.com tournaments. There are four factors we look at that affect how many points a player gets in a tournament:

  • A multiplier based on your final place finish (P)
  • Projected number of rounds (R)
  • Maximum group size (G)
  • Average rating of all the players in the tournament (S)

The Formula: 10 * (P * (1.5R) * G * (S / 1000))

How to calculate "P"

PLACE FINISH "P" VALUE
1 .5
2 .25
3 .15
4+ .1 * ((((T / 2) - 2) - (p - 3)) / ((T / 2) - 2))

T = Total Players
p = Place Finish (p must be less than or equal to 1/2 of T to earn points)

"R" is calculated as (G/A)^X = T, solve for X. (A = number of players who advance per group)

imac said "but would have liked to have played someone at my level. "

agree, that is why I created 13 tournaments each with 150 rating gap, see:

http://blog.chess.com/jootoo/the-tournaments-with-100-players-i-created

there still some empty slots for your join now.

I love the opportunity to play; however, I was hoping that the tournament would be limited to a rating of 1200 as stated.  I am paired with with a player with a rating of 1343.  I'm losing both games and have no chance to win.  I will continue to play and learn, but would have liked to have played someone at my level.

0keeper, as the winner of round 1, you need to wait others complete their games in round 1.
