@Kodiak42

Vacation time as means to draw out a forced mate does go against chess.com rules I believe. However, it's best to report the offenders, rather than state their names on posts, which I believe also goes against chess.com rules. I understand the frustration, but just wanted to give you a heads-up.

Have a good day!

I just want to issue another complaint against vacation. First, one should not enter a tournament if you are going to need vacation time. Now I can see the need for unforeseen events, so a possible exception there. But to use vacation as a way of extending your amount of playing time as  totaldramaislandrule appears to be doing is unsportsman like conduct. He has taken vacation at least three times since the tournament has started. From his profile he seems to be young, but if your gonna put on the pants he needs to wear them.

If it is indeed the case that vacation is being taken as a way to increase "clock" time then I would ask if this is against any policy on the site, and if so ask for disqualification is there is a rule against using vacation time in such a way.

I agree on the biggest upset game. After 20.Rxe4 white is up a piece and black still has both knights in trouble. I do not even see what "ghosts" white possibly have thought he saw. Well such is the power of hindsight.

Does anyone know why White resigned to Black in the "biggest upset" game? It seems as though White could have easily won.

Yeah, unfortunately players are allowed to take vacations during the tournament. I haven't figured a way to make it so no one can take vacation days.

Are players allowed to take "vacation" time during tournaments? One of the people in my group has.

Only 8 winners (1 from each group) in this round?

That's really small.

Well, we will see.

This is my first tournament and I also was surprised by the start of the games. Didn't know thematic means that there would have already been some moves. :D

Hi biewie,

I always thought that the "format: 5(2) ->1" means that in the first round, there will be 5 people who advance (1 winner from each group), then two from the second round, and finally a winner is determined. However, there are going to be 8 winners in the first round, so I'm not entirely sure. Maybe someone else knows? This is only my second tournament.

Hello,

Sorry, I'm new but what does "format: 5(2)->1" mean?

Thanks in advance.

By the way: a lot of 1600+rated players in this tournament.
