Gwyl, hopefully you won't have the need for unexpected vacation again, at least not for the reason that caused you to time out in these games.  Hope we get to play again in another tournament...

Tie breaks are sum of the points that are earned by everyone you beat (twice the points of anyone you beat twice; 1/2 for each draw).  They are used to decide placement if two or more people wind up tied in points.

As a practical matter, they usually advance someone who manages to knock off a better player, but also slips up against someone who did not do as well, instead of the person who has the more even performance.

It would be nice to have had some vacation time on this.  Next time I'll have to read the fine print.

Ah the great midwest of Kurdistan, Iraq. Rolling plains, buffalo, twisters and apple pie cooking. You can't beat it.

Alternatively viewed as deserts, Toyota 4 x 4's, sandstorms and chicken with rice.Laughing

Interesting that a midwest tournament has drawn a very strong Middle East contingent - best of luck to those of you in both heartlands!
