This is a relatively small thematic tournament which requires that every player has completed at least 50 games prior to registering.  This helps ensure that Elo levels are fairly accurate.

The Opening is the Morphy Defense to the Ruy Lopez.  This is an important opening and I'm sure you have seen it a lot.  Here is your opportunity to try your luck (skill ;) against other players of a similar level.

The pace is mellow, only one game per opponent.  Therefore, you don't have to worry about lots of simultaneous games.  Please join me for this fun event!

I'm perplexed! I'm playing each person in my draw only once apart from one competitor who I'm playing twice. Can any one explain or do we have a glitch?

I wish I could say I'm a great Ruy Lopez player, but I could certainly use as much experience in this opening as I could get.  At least in this case, I only have to worry about one variation.

I look forward to playing in this with everyone on both sides -- white and black.  It's always interesting to be on both sides to get that perspective that your opponent gets.  As they say, if you think an opening isn't good, play the other side of it against someone who knows it well!
