Argh, looks like TD's can no longer withdraw players... so even though  DjJoe has been away for 1 month we will have to wait another 8 days until his vacation time runs out... :s Sorry all.

Here is my favorite Irish joke:

We are almost finished round 1 guys, good games cheers :)

Unfortunately i have to go away for 2 weeks from the 16th-30th June. I will try and log in  and move when i can, perhaps every few days if there is internet nearby but i do not know if there will be or not. So apologies, if i hold things up any, i just didn't expect to be going on holiday so soon (last minute cheap deals)

    Cheers fer understanding.

hehe i like it MM78 :) That is a rather wonderful mix of yer heritage indeed.. tough call which team to play fer..well clearly not England ;) Mexico World Cup '86, Nor'n Iron managed to come last in their group but at least qualified. The one after was the Republics turn though. I think both sides have reached the quarters before, pretty nifty fer a wee island.

Ok, another  politically incorrect joke fer ye..

John O'Reilly hoisted his beer and said, 'Here's to spending the rest
of me life between the legs of me wife!'

That won him the top prize at the pub for the best toast of the night!

He went home and told his wife, Mary, 'I won the prize for the Best
    toast of the night.'

She said, 'Aye, did ye now. And what was your toast?'

John said, 'Here's to spending the rest of me life, sitting in church
    beside me wife.'

'Oh, that is very nice indeed, John!' Mary said.

The next day, Mary ran into one of John's drinking buddies on the
street corner. The man chuckled leeringly and said, 'John won the
prize the other night at the pub with a toast about you, Mary.'

She said, 'Aye, he told me, and I was a bit surprised meself. You
know, he's only been there twice in the last four years. Once he fell
asleep, and the other time I had to pull him by the ears to make him come.'

    MM78

    Hi All,

Living in Ireland since I was 4, bit of a mixed heritage....I could play football for ireland, England, Wales or Mexico...if I was any good of course.  Great to see so many players joining after a slow start and we have an excellent range of ratings..including at least a couple of masters I see.  Cool trophies.

I'll chance a politically incorrect one...did you hear about the gay Irishman?

    He preferrred women to drink.

ahah good stuff ElGuero, good one re the twins heh.

Paddy and Mick had been out on the town for a few Guinness. Before they realised the time, the pub was shutting and they had missed the last bus home. As they started the 5 mile walk home, they walked passed the bus station, which was deserted.

"Lets steal a bus, we'll get home much quicker " suggested Mick.

"Great idea" says Paddy, and begins to walk up and down the row of buses.

    "Aw sh*te", says Paddy.

    "Whits the matter", asks Mick.

    "There's no' a number 27 bus here".

"Don't be so bloody daft" says Mick.................

"We'll steal that number 52 bus there, get off at flaherty street, an' we can walk the rest"

Well, we're off! Hope ye enjoy the games and have a bit of craic while at it ;)

Feel free to share yer best Irish jokes.. ill start one.. :D

"Hey," said a new arrival in the pub, "I've got some great Irish jokes." "Before you start," said the big bloke in the corner, "I'm Irish." "Don't worry," said the newcomer, "I'll tell them slowly."

*chuckles* classic :D Great to have ye all gents (and ladies?)! Nice to see a turnout from all over.   Oh Nollie, ye owe the bar 247 euro fer those fine Guinnesses! (gotta love Dublin prices ;)

Since there has been the interest all inital 28 slots were filled, I have edited the setup slightly to allow 2 more groups. The groups will be of 6 people, still with 2 going through from each group. So there will be 6 groups of 6, going to 2 groups of 6, then to the final 4. This should hopefully allow most people to play each other and ensure a good final battle fer the pints!

I imagine we will start this tourney over the next few days, I was wanting to wait a little, until some of the games of the chess.com quick round trournaments were over, which some of us are in. That way we wont have too many games at once.

Lookin forward to playin with ye :) Cheers, Tim

I regret to inform you that although I did not win (and don't stand much of a chance), I've already drank the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes.  Also, I've drank the 4th, 5th, and 6th place prizes....then, I think I drank the 7th place prize, and there was something about a short of jamesons, and some tullamore dew, and well, it all got a little blurry after that.  Slainte!

Hiya Philip I'm glad to know there is at least one other chess playing leprechaun floating about here ;)

Just to let ye know, i slightly altered the tourny settings, i think it makes more sense to play 1 game concurrently, so no one is overwealmed with games at once, which may attract a few more folks; in yer experience what do ye think is best?

     Cheers, Tim
