As a Platinum member on chess.com, I can give away one year of free Gold membership to a member of my choice. I have decided to offer this as a prize for winning a 100-player tournament.
You must be a NON-PREMIUM member to participate in this tournament. Any premium members who sign up will be removed before the tournament starts. This is not personal in any way, so please do not be offended. It just makes sense given the nature of the prize...
In order to keep things moving briskly, you will be playing in groups of 5. One winner of each group (or more in case of equality on tie-break points) will advance to the following round. You will have ONE DAY ONLY to play each move.
In order to participate, you must have completed at least 25 games, with no more than 15% of your games lost on time. This is to ensure that the winner will treat his or her Gold membership with the respect it deserves.
Your rating at time of sign-up must be 1500 or lower. This is because I want to award this prize to someone who is looking to learn and improve his or her game.
Sign up quickly while seats are still available... I will be launching the tournament as soon as we have 100 non-premium members signed up.
Good luck to all of you!
