Continuing upon the theme from his last video in this series, GM Dzindzichashvili analyzes more practical games for us today in the Bogo Indian. Here we see games from black's perspective, displaying several common positional errors the first player might make. Even strong players can misunderstand how to use white's space advantage, and as in one example, if white forgets to play e4, the results can be devastating. | Watch video

Don't ever let your guard down! That might be the critical lesson from today's video lecture by GM Dejan Bojkov. After outplaying his opponent with the black pieces, quite easily we might add, World Champion Wilhelm Steinitz showed carelessness on the Kingside, and the game ended quickly in his demise. Noted should be his positional mastery on the Queenside however, but also that his opponent never gave up... | Watch video

The "un-crowned" king of the chess world before an official World Championship title was awarded was, in many people's view, Adolf Anderssen. That was until Andersen made the mistake of challenging the young Wilhelm to a match and claiming that he didn't expect to lose a single game. When Steinitz won the match 8 games to 6 the world's opinion, needless to say, was changed forever. Enjoy this exciting game! | Watch video

After coming up short against their more experienced opponent's, young American stars Robert Hess and Sam Shankland were paired with what would be their final "mini-match" of the 2011 US Championship -- a battle for 3rd place or the "bronze medal". After getting off to a solid start in his favorite white weapon (the Catalan), Shanky over-presses the position and finds himself needing to make several accurate moves to hold on. Could he do it? | Watch video

IM Rensch continues his video series on the study of material imbalances with a recently played, highly interesting game of his own against a fellow International Master from the Berkeley International. The idea in this video is to see the principles of playing these positions in practice. Try evaluating the positions yourself as the game develops, attempting to correctly weigh the material vs the initiative, and don't miss your shot for a defensive sacrifice! | Watch video

Today GM Bojkov reviews two of the most critical wins of Lasker's career, both coming in World Championship Matches with the title on the line. The first game showed his prophylactic skills against the American Frank Marshall (not falling for that lethal Qxc8+ trap)! The second game proved Lasker's "psychological advantages" over his opponents at the time when he proves more flexible than the rigid Dr. Tarrasch. | Watch video

Go for the attack, and don't look back! IM Danny Rensch is back with another Live Sessions today, and after his opponent underestimates the possibility of a Kingside attack, Danny tries to throw "everything but the kitchen sink". Most important though is how the attack developed: Danny talks about placing your pieces (particularly the Rooks) in "anticipation" of how the structure might change. He shows how this can help you to have a coordinated army for whichever plan you choose... | Watch video

You will have to watch this video to find out what the great "love" of Efim Geller's life was, but let's just say that the answer may surprise you... Today Grandmaster Dzindzichashvili continues with the highly entertaining and critically acclaimed Greatest Chess Minds video series. The creative genius of Geller is on display, and though his technique might have lacked some "Karpov" at times, his approach was as original as anyone to have ever played the game. | Watch video

The concrete version of this story was that white was ahead a piece and winning with best play... but today the "spirit" of the active King overcomes the power of the "physical" pieces! In this incredibly interesting struggle, the white player -- Super-GM and Germany's #1 Arkadij Naiditsch -- achieved an "easily" winning advantage and expected the rest to be a simple matter of technique. However, black's King wouldn't let his army go down without a fight and eventually the improbable happened... | Watch video
