I can now see why the Ruy Lopez is played at the very highest levels - forcing combinations and sharp attacks. As a 1.d4 player I like my positional play, but as I am on a road, a jourrney of self-improvement, I will actually make it my new years' resolution to learn the spanish game and maybe some other 1.e4 openings. The only 1.e4 I know so far is the King's Gambit and some anti-sicilian attacks, that's it. But 2012 will be different - nice lectures GM Bojkov Cool
