At 13:10 after Bb2 why cant white play Nc3? I cant find the tactic because the knight is defended. Your right that nc3 move always annoys me so much when white kicks my queen away and gets to c5. Please let me know because I've been struggling with that variation. A lot... it can be torturous.
Great insight on why white cant play nc3 earlier though never thought of that. Makes my life a lot easier.
Also I loooove that na5 idea. Amazing insight thank you. Nc5 is so frustrating sometimes
Tatev demonstrates real mastery of the advance variation. This was a very succinct presentation of key ideas.
I think c4 is the best move.
what does everyone think of the move c4 in response to a3? I know it kills the central tension but ive seen a few gm games where the move b5-b4 was a decisive break.
Every single time I play Nh6....they take with their bishop.
Good job Tatev
Excellent video. Thanks for continuing your series on the French Defense!
Fine video - great speed in showing the variations, clear pronounciation, good ideas and also worth watching. I would like a video on the "Advance French" to stay away from variations like Millner-Barry - maybe even Le2 variations too - and just handle the a3-variation thorough. Deep, deep, deep analysis... know-how. That would be my number one.

the reason is to suck non-paying memebers into paying for the full videos.
Great Video and Variation
Great post; lots to study. Thanks.
Oh Tatev Abrahamian your arminian women
I agree with steve_brute. I am a paying member but I would also like that the masters that make these videos would go straight to the point from the beginning of the video :)
Why, I wonder can Tatev get right down to business in this video, while the others I've seen (on an intro-only basis, I'm not a paid member) waste so much time in the beginning that when the end of the free intro arrives I still don't know if the video has any value for me. One of the reasons, chess.com, that I am not a paying member. Wake up the other video makers and get them to follow Tatev's example.

Next up in WGM Abrahamyan's all-things-French series is the Advance Variation, which goes well with fois gras and is paired with an earthy Bordeaux. While it is not played much at the highest levels, Black must know how to meet dangerous gambits like the Milner-Barry, and main lines with a3 and b4. Don't turn into French Fries, watch her videos now!
