thank you so much, before i watch the movie any further.. i tried so many times to play such a position for black... and the minority attack i always had all the troubles with all the various lines you mentioned.. of course i didnt study opening books, because i wanted to learn it myself, but it felt so good to know that its really bad for black and im not just bad.....

"Lights out butter cup" and "check-a-lina-la-bamba", Lol! Very colorful descriptions. That was very memorable.

Agreed- he's a great teacher.
As for the speed- ya, he talks very fast. But, he's covering a lot of material.
Solution? Watch the video again. Or pause and/or rewind frequently

Thanks Daniel,
even i dont speak good english but still could understand most of the instruction, i suggest do not apologise so often and a bit more humor will add a taste of less serious. I learned a lot of theory with this video...lets see if I have improved....
good luck...buena suerte!!

This video is awesome. Brusselsshreck, danny had perfect speed even for 1500's. The rambiling is really funny.
Very Educational

I was interested to see the first part of this video (with just the pawns), since I learnt the basics of the minority attack. But sorry Daniel, I've got to say that pedagogically (i.e. teaching technique) this was one of the worst videos I have so far watched here. Here are the problems I see and my suggestions for improvement:
* this was (I think) supposed to be a video on the minority attack. The intro was great, but the choice of examples was dreadful. I would have loved to see the 2 different types of minority attack (white on Q wing, black on K wing) working. Maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't see a single succesful minority attack in the whole video! Try, please, and illustrate the subject more carefully.
* Slow down!! Maybe the 2000+ rating players can follow your speed, but I'm a 1500ish player (which is 80% percentile), and I found you much too fast, so the 80% lower than me would have no chance.
* Cut out a lot of the rambling and try and stick to the main points. Although the games you showed were maybe interesting, I don't think they illustrated at all well the minority attack ideas which you set out to show.
* Don't spend ages critiquing books nobody watching the video is likely to have read or care about.
You may be a great chess player, but good luck on improving your teaching technique!

Downright goofy word creations. I shall add Sheistokovitch.

I enjoyed watching the video.. to the point and clear. Thanks!

This video helps a lot. I ended up falling way behind in a QGD game as white, really because I haven't played it in forever. I ended up drawing, with winning chances at the end, but I would have had a much better chance with the minority attack. I will remember 11. h3 haha.

nice video
by IM Daniel Rensch
In the second video of this series dedicated to the "little guys", Danny evolves on his explanations of "seeing the bigger picture" and remembering that ALL strong positional plans are based around your knowledge of the given pawn structure. The Queen's Gambit Declined and Caro-Kann come under the microscope today... Make sure you do your homework!!!
