Derren Brown beats 9 chess players simultaneously

posted by: webmaster                     (2528 views)

This is a video cut from "Trick of The Mind" series aired in the UK. The clip here is taken directly from Season 1 -- Episode 1. This is one of my favorite segments done by Derren. It explains for the most part how he did achieve the feat, and the trick is quite clever. Don't get too hung up on the ending though; it's merely a trick. I've got all of Derren's work on my computer, and if you're interested in somehow obtaining the information, email me at tranceriver@gmail.com and we'll talk. Cheers

Nice video, however from where did he get the numbers of pieces left on the boards, kinda confusing did I miss something?

I agree, the ninth player setup was weak - if his chess is as bad as he says it is, how would he win? Also - the numbers thing - how did that work out? He never explains it - he had NO control over the pieces of 8 of 9 games, so how would he know?

Anyone have an idea?

that was fun to watch, thank you! I'm confused though - the entire success of the thing was based upon whether or not he could beat the 9th competitor? What if he had lost? Seems like he could come up with a way to rig that one game to ensure success - or did I miss something? Anyway great video.
