• I'm looking to play longer games (around 45/45 or longer, typically) with others who are also serious about the game and trying to improve.

• Right now, I prefer opponents with a chess.com "Rapid" rating (and/or a USCF or FIDE rating) anywhere from 1200-1600.

• If we have time after the game, I'm usually happy to do a "post mortem" as it's a good way to learn as well as potentially make new chess friends. Completely understand if you're not into doing that, though.

• My main goal (other than learning and having fun, of course!) is to improve my USCF rating, which is currently 1318. While an online game (alone in a quiet room, in the comfort of your own home, don't have to write down moves, etc.) will never replicate the live OTB tourney environment, it's still a great way to train and enjoy chess.

• At this time, I'm not interested in playing blitz games.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are frustrated because you feel like "everybody online only wants to play speed games," I understand and used to make this excuse to myself too. But the truth is there are plenty of people all over the world who want to play longer games online. You just have to be a little more proactive with seeking those people out and scheduling a game in advance. Put in a little legwork and you can quickly find some regular opponents happy to play longer games.
