Online chess ladder

Hi fellow members,

Here are the rules for our online chess ladder,which are subject to alteration and additions as the ladder progresses.To make the ladder fair I'll take the first 5 entrants and number them in their rating when they join,after that,all new entrants will start at the bottom of the ladder.

1.         Initial 5 positions on the ladder are determined by entrants ratings when they join.After the 5 pioneers all new members will be added to the bottom of the ladder.

2.         You may challenge anyone who is one, two,or three spots above you on the ladder.  If you are challenged to a ladder game,unless you are  already playing a ladder game,then you must play.(A refusal to play is treated as a loss).Please use 'online chess ladder' as the title of your match.

3.         The player making the challenge plays White.The person being challenged plays Black.Games will be a maximum of 3 days/move,but if the 2 players wish to play 1 or 2 days/move,and as long as they both definitely agree on the move time,then the games can be played at that speed.

4.         If the lower-ranked player wins, the lower-ranked player takes the higher-ranked player’s spot on the ladder, and the higher-ranked player moves down one spot.

5.         If the higher-ranked player wins, there is no change in the players’ rankings.

6.         If the game ends in a draw, the lower-ranked player takes the spot just below the higher-ranked player.

7.         After a ladder game is played, the winner MUST contact either Charles or myself with the result so that the positions can be reviewed.

8.         Rules are subject to alterations,additions or new ones being added as we progress the ladder and if we have any problems not covered by the present rules.
