Weekly Opening Analysis
Hello. Today I decided to analyze the animal-Indian Defense. (I jumped from a really easy one to a harder one) Here is the opening.
You can see white starts out with d4. This is a black opening. After black surprisingly moved his f knight white counters with c4. Ultimately you can follow the moves on the game above.
”Each of Black's moves is directed at controlling the d5 and e4 squares with the pieces rather than the pawns,” as chess.com describes. Bb4 pins the white knight. However, white has a 35.2% chance of winning and black has a 29.9% chance, so black must play carefully to the middlegame.
Here again are chess.com’s pros and cons:
Pros:
- Positionally sound
- Leads to rich positions
- Black develops rapidly
Cons:
- White might get the two bishops
- White can try to conquer the center
Happy Election Day (US)
