I started playing around the age of 10 against my dad.  While I love him, he was a poor winner, so I did what was natural and set my sights on revenge.  After about a year of study, I began crushing him every game.  Sometime much later, I began to like chess too.

CHESS IS NOT 99% TACTICS

Chess is more about plans, designs, and construction. Tactical exchanges are just how you stress test these.

TACTICS ARE NOT JUST MATERIALISTIC

Tactics threaten 2 or more things, but are taught with emphasis on destruction / material loss. The reality is tactics can threaten to harm an opponent’s position, build own position, or both.
