I am 54 years old and unable to work due to a serious illness which is unlikely to go away. It has given me the opportunity to get together with chess gain after about 40 years and to hopefully learn something this time round rather than just moving and hoping.

My plan, in its early stages at the moment, is to have the Caro Kann and a couple of Sicilian variations as my main Black kingside openings, with the Kings Indian and maybe the Trompowsky as my Black queenside equivalents.

I have had a really positive impression of chess.com, compared with some of the other major sites, especially with regard to resources and I sometimes wonder what people expect for their money....
