Despite being the most accurate chess player in history, there is no denying that he has been on a decline over the last few years. These days I feel as though he purposefully gives his opponent a slight advantage, to provoke them into overpressing, after which he uses his superior knowledge to counter attack and win. Of course this always doesn't work, and more often than not, he equalizes after tempting them, before petering out into a draw. He's been taking a lot more risks in the middlegame, playing the KID and variations of that (not that they're inherently unsafe), and even as we speak he's in trouble against Mamedyarov.

Since he's the closest thing to a chess engine, I feel as though he should be practicing to play more like an engine, as opposed to taking a lot more risks to provoke and beat other top 10 players. Granted, he can't crunch millions of positions in a second, but the guy has a database of over 10,000 games stored away in his head, calculating many moves, and using those games as a reference point isn't a problem for him. And there's also the fact that he isn't as well-versed in openings as some of his compatriots
