Anand leads Candidates 2014 after R1
Who would have bet for it? Not me at least, but facts are facts. Vishy Anand is back, at least for the first round of the Candidates, to show his best chess. He had to face a home prep pawn sacrifice from tricky Aronian but he kept calm and eventually got a pleasant middlegame in which Levon was unable to get activity. The Armenian GM eventually cracked under time pressure.
The rest of the games were draws. Andreikin vs Kramnik was the 1st one to finish, and though they basically were following a previous game I find the opening/early middlegame quite interesting.
Have a nice day and thanks for watching.
