The Importance of Giving a Check
Missing simple ideas
My following blogs will focus on common themes that seem to be very logical to use in our games. However, we tend to miss the usefulness of these simple ideas. Checkmates, checks, undefended pieces - these are all common themes and yet we oftentimes oversee a winning move.
How is that possible, and more importantly, how can we improve our lines of thought in such a manner that we take these ideas into consideration?
In the following two games (see video) the importance of looking for checks on the board is explained with two examples. In both games, the checks prove decisive. Can you find both winning moves?
If you have examples of games where a check decided the game, let me know, and you will see the game in a next video! Also, if you have a theme you want to see in a next video, let me know in the comments. Cheers
