Surviving Early Middle Game as White

As discussed in my earlier blog, "Surviving the Opening as White", I attempt to show you how to play better than average chess without a lot of book study. So how do we continue after we've finished our OSFM openings?

The safest strategy is to reinforce your control on the center by protecting pieces first. Then develop the rest of your minor pieces. The following illustrates how you might play white against black's most common and deadly Sicillian defense.

Of course, there are many different ways to continue into the middle game. You may find one that "fits" your "style" better.  The important thing is to play often and HAVE FUN!
