I was playing white in this game and my expected opponent another Class B player, who is elderly, didn't show up. I knew I would have the white pieces, so I'd been working on tactics and attacking all month. Instead of my expected opponent, a Class A player sat down. I've played him before, he's a cool guy, but he is an OPENING THEORY ADDICT! Without a second thought, I've played him before, I decided that I would use d4, since it's less theoretical and try to blow him off the board that way. Alas, the game ended in a draw. Not bad, considering he outrates me by 150 pts, but I really wanted kill his king.
