My Chess Super Bowl
Hi chess friends,
This past Sunday, while many other Americans were preparing for the Super Bowl, I played in the first round of the Northern Virginia Chess League against Grandmaster Jesse Kraai. In our previous meeting in the league he beat me with the brilliant Nfd5 in this position.
This time, I wanted to improve on that performance, and ended up playing one of the more remarkable games in my chess career. Despite getting outplayed for much of the game, I got a couple of good bounces, played a few good moves, and ended up scoring a surprising win. I like to think it inspired the New England Patriots a few hours later.
Anyway, here's my first regular tournament win againsts a GM.
