Teaching my son (@ 18 months) to play chess
Initially, and somewhat ill-advisedly, he considered the Sodium Attack:
...but I waived touch-move and let him play a more sensible opening. He got the hang of how pawns move quite quickly, so his first few moves were pawn moves. He did consider a Queen move on his second move, but opted instead for 1. c4 Nf6 2. d4 - here he is fingering the Queen (if you'll pardon the expression):

Here, he is in a spot of bother as he surely realises that if he moves his Knight, I will capture his Bishop, and if he does not move his Knight, I will capture it. Judging from his gaze, he appears to be looking at the d3 square, perhaps considering Bd3?? to protect the Knight and realising that this would fall to exd3.
