Chess Traps #3- The Siberian Trap

Mar 5, 2016, 9:37 AM |

Today I am going to make another blog for the day, and it will be on the Siberian Trap.

What is the Siberian Trap?

The SIberian Trap is a trap in the Smith-Morra Gambit. Once white falls for it, there is no running. In the diagram below, find the winning move for BLACK

    Did you find it?

The winning move is... Nd4! For more information on the trap you can look at the diagram below.

How to Avoid the Siberian Trap

As a Smith-Morra player, I've always hated the Siberian Trap. The only thing I can tell you that might help white is: DON'T PLAY H3!!! Though even when you do ignore the knight, things don't get much better.

I hope you enjoyed this blog!
