KID Brilliancy? Alas, No

Draconis
Jun 10, 2012, 8:20 PM 2

I played a blitz game (5 0 u) in the King's Indian Defense as White against Dio wherein I discovered a sac that the computer doesn't find (at least in a quick analysis)... but I failed to follow up in the right way. Instead of a potential brilliancy no-prize, I went down in defeat. It seemed so natural to follow up with Nxh5 with the idea of Nxg7 and only then to invade with the Queen. But Qxh5 was the proper follow up, with many strong threats. I will remember this the next time I get this kind of position (I do see a lot of KIDs!)
