Now that you know, we can get into more interesting things. The Slav Defense is a very popular opening in the GM circles. This is because of two reasons: one, it is one of the most solid lines against the Queens Gambit. The reason being that if you take the d5 pawn, your opponent will take back with his c6 pawn, and nothing will be gained except for an open c-file. Two, it lends more support to your center.
