I'd Love to Change the World

My friend BISHOP_e3 sent me a link to the Tens Years After album, "A Space in Time" (1971).  I was telling him my neighbor friend owned the album.  I remember listening to it many a time, usually getting a bit stoned.

My favorite track was "I'd Love to Change the World," which was a hit single, though it barely cracked the Top-40.  Here it is, followed by the lyrics:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sg6xaFZStEI

Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies
Tell me where is sanity?

Tax the rich
Feed the poor
Till there are rich no more?

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

Population keeps on breeding
Nation bleeding
Still more feeding, economy

Life is funny, skies are sunny
Bees make honey
Who needs money? Monopoly

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

World pollution
There's no solution
Institution, electrocution

Just black and white
Rich or poor
Them and us
Stop the war

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

Though very much a late-60s/early-70s, the lyrics still reasonate today.  Which tells me, the more things change, the more things stay the same.

The highlight of the track though is the guitar work of the brilliant Alvin Lee (1944-2013)
