  2. Alfonso Romero Holmes of Spain, born 1965, GM 1995.
  3. Predrag Trajkovic of Serbia, born 1970, GM 2008.
  4. Mikhail Kozakov of Ukraine, born 1972, GM 2000.
  5. Shyam Sundar of India, born 1992, GM 2013.
  6. Xu Yi of China, born 1998, GM 2019.
  7. Akshat Chandra of the United States, born 1999, GM 2017.

Alfonso Romero Holmes was awarded the International Master title in 1985 and the Grandmaster title ten years later in 1995. In the 1990s & 2000s he was one of the leading Spanish chess players. In 1984/1985, in Groningen he won silver medal in European Junior Chess Championship. In 1987, in Salou he won Spanish Chess Championship. Other chess tournament successes include: shared 1st place in Albacete (1989), twice shared 1st place in Salamanca (1990, 2005), won in Wijk aan Zee (1991, tournament B), twice won in Valencia (2001, 2003).

Alfonso Romero Holmes played for Spain in the Chess Olympiads in 1986, 1990, 1992, 2002 & 2004. He also played for Spain in the 2003 European Team Chess Championship.
