Chess and Music

I had a late night 'blooding' session (blooding is a name that was coined back in uni days, that refers to playing bullet or blitz chess for money - shout out to my greatest Uites! lol) with my guys the other night, and we were playing Wutang joints throughout. It seemed to add to the atmosphere of competition...sort of fuelling the energy that was generated throughout that night (we were up from like 9:00 pm to 4:00 am).

It just felt right to play that sort of music, what with all the chess references and the aggressive nature of the lyrics. I would say it inspired some really interesting (although sometimes reckless lol) attacking chess. What I find interesting though, is that I am the sort of person who needs 100 percent concentration when doing anything cerebral...except when it comes to chess (or rather blitz and bullet). I think I play more interesting games when there is (hip hop) music playing in the background.

I am curious though, what sort of music do you like to listen to (if you do) when you blitz or play bullet chess?

P.S. I am a thirty something year old man who still listens to hiphop, I know lol. The wife absolutely HATES it but I can't stop...well not yet. Maybe when I'm 60 years old like Jay Z (joke), then i'll stop.
