Middlegame Strategies

Aug 4, 2016, 2:16 PM 1

Hello everyone. Here is a list of the best ways to handle the mid game during a chess game. This list is meant for beginners, but anyone can read it. I will soon be posting some End Game Strategies.

The king must be protected against attack. If it is not castled, it is best to keep it on the first rank. The queen is in real power, and should be in the centre of the action. The queen should avoid picking up stray pawns. Rooks are best in the open files. Doubled rooks are very strong on an open file. Bishops are best at attacking from a distance, and never waver in their constant attacking. The knights can be very helpful in the mid game, as they are the only pieces that can jump over other chessmen. Pawns should never be given up lightly in the middle game.

Thanks for reading, and if you have any more ideas, post them at the bottom of this page!
