Learn on How to Use Chess Pieces Better
In the world of Chess, there's many different ways to use pieces. Castling, offense, sacrifice, you name it. But there are some people with low ELO who don't know how to use chess pieces better. I will go over every chess piece and on how to use it better. Let's begin!
Pawns: The pawns in my opinion are the most valuable pieces. I mean, is there any other piece that can promote? Rhetorical question. Anyways, pawns are used for every opening, promotion, and taking the center. There's many ways to make sure your pawns aren't lonely, by accompanying them with other pieces. But who wants to do all that work? No one! Listen here, two pawns together are nearly unstoppable. What I mean is as long a 1 pawn is behind the other and is backed up by anything, they are almost impossible to separate.
Knights: Knights are powerful when accompanied by other pieces, especially for tearing apart the enemy's army. Used for forks, these guys are tricky, but if you can focus one knight on 2 valuable pieces which is then backed up by another knight, this will become a major threat. Also, with the right setup, more than just 1 fork is possible. 1 fork, free snack, 2 forks, another free snack. These are terrifying to deal with when backed up.
Bishops: A bishop's job is to move diagonal. Ever heard of a bishop pair? Just kidding! I know you have. With the right setup you can deliver mate, but it pretty hard to get. But that's not even close to being efficient. What's really neat about bishops is that they're basically snipers. They pin a piece to the king without much of a threat. Keep your bishops out of harm's way, and the game will be easier.
Rooks: The piece I nicknamed "castle". Get it? Yeah that was cringe. Anyways, these guys are also snipers. Ladder mates are often done with them. Backrank mates are also common, but just like every piece I'm covering, there's a better way to use them. Instead of using them separately, put them together, then add the queen to the party.
Queen: The most powerful piece. She's is a killer. Using her for sacrifices is rude and disappointing. I wonder, have you all ever heard of batteries? Not the irl batteries, the in game batteries. If you don't know what those are read this: a tactical formation where two or more sliding pieces (queen, rook, or bishop) are lined up on the same file, rank, or diagonal to create, increase, and focus pressure on a specific target, often the opponent's king. Using the queen for a battery can maximize use instead of sacrifice.
Hope I helped you!
