Kostya & Isaac: Reykjavik Open Round 7 - London Adventures!
Some interesting London System games today. IM Kostya Kavutskiy showed us a new idea in an old position, simply lifting his rook to a7 to place his queen on the a8 square. For King's Indian players out there, this system is easy to learn, and poses White with real problems!
Meanwhile, my London System adventures did not go nearly as well, as the position got sharp after playing a line recommended by GM Simon Williams. It's amazing how every move really matters - after (maybe?) 2 inaccurate moves, my opponent got a strong position despite tactical complications, and was able to use his time advantage and position to get a good win.
Round 8 isn't easy Kostya will take on Indian GM Magesh Panchanathan, and I get another ambitious youngster with Black ... fingers crossed!
