USCF Tournament: 10th Annual Midwest Class
October 6th - 8th, I particpated in the 10th Annual Midwest Class.
Time controls were 40/100, SD/30, d10
(100 minutes for 40 moves, 30 minutes added after move 41, with 10 second delay)
A friend challenged me to play in the Premier (Open) section, so I accepted the challenge. Turned out, I was the second lowest rated player in the field.
My expectations for this tournament was that I face like three experts and two masters. Turns out, I played five masters (4 NMs and 1 FM). With a +1, -1, =3 (2.5/5.0) performance, my rating went from 1948 to 2002. Assuming this stays, I'm an US Chess Expert now.
