CHEATER AT THE AMERICAN OPEN- DAVID WHITTEN
The American Open was going all swell and well... Except for the one cheater named David Whitten. Up to Round 7 he had an almost perfect score: one draw to a 1400 player. He had been vigorously shaking and it was almost seemingly that he had Parkinson's disease. Did he now? Nope! He had transmitting devices on his legs and vibrators in his shoes. His left leg was for alphabet coordinates and his right leg was for number coordinates. For instance, c5 would be for him 3 stomps/taps on his left leg and 5 stomps/taps on his right leg. He nearly got away with $1500 again. Be aware of this in the future and of David Whitten.
Let's all please remember that chess is a game for us all to enjoy. Even there was a scandal in one of California's main tournaments, chess is a game we can all enjoy and be happy to play.
